Switching to the yard in October last year, EAST INDIA DOCK was swiftly off the mark by four lengths at Wincanton before tackling Cheltenham with an 18-length victory in the Gr.2 Prestbury Hurdle the following month. Returning to the track in January, he claimed a hat-trick and the second of two Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdles in the Gr.2 Finesse by another impressive 10 lengths. The three-year-old son of GOLDEN HORN virtually made all to firmly mark his place ahead of this year’s renewal of the Gr.1 Triumph Hurdle at the Festival, for which his MUHAARAR half-brother BURDETT ROAD missed the date for last term.
This exciting Festival prospect heads 15 winners throughout January, with a further winner for James’s wife Jenny under the Point-to-Point code. Longtime owners the Whiskey & Water Partnership saw their silks carried to an eight-length victory by new recruit ARAMAX, while ever-faithful RAGNAR LODBROK remains in their ownership and will be aimed at a Hunter Chase at Leicester next week.
Meanwhile the yard has recently seen the arrival of The Gredley Family’s Gr.1 Derby runner-up and Gr.1 Irish Derby third AMBIENTE FRIENDLY. The son of GLENEAGLES has returned to training following a winter break at the family’s Stetchworth stud and looks in great form for a 2025 campaign.
