Exciting Acclamation Two-Year-Old for Sale

James Owen

James secured an ACCLAMATION filly out of the RAVEN’S PASS mare WINTER SNOW at the October Yearling Sales last year in Newmarket. Having wintered well she has developed into an exciting two-year-old for the coming season.

James reports: "She is an athletic, scopey filly that I really liked at the sales and I'm excited that I managed to secure her for a price which will allow her to get into Band D races. She is cantering daily and will be making her racecourse debut in June. She has a big future ahead of her."

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

She is out of the once-raced WINTER SNOW, who was bred by Darley and raced in the blue of Godolphin. The mare is responsible for six foals of racing age, including the dual 6f winner GNAT ALLEY, the 1m novice winner PERISHER, and a son of SOLDIER’S CALL, just turned three-year-old TOP BINS, who looks a winner in waiting, having been placed three times last season and being gelded over the winter.

WINTER SNOW is by RAVEN’S PASS and a half-sister to the Gr.1 British Champions Sprint Stakes winner GLENSHIEL and the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes third SIGNS IN THE SAND, while their dam is the Gr.3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner GONFILIA. The last-named is a half-sister to the dual German Gr.1 winner GONBARDA, who later found fame as the dam of the outstanding FARHH, winner of the Gr.1 Champion Stakes and Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes and now a successful sire.

Delve a little deeper into this pedigree and you will find the likes of FAME AND GLORY, winner of the Gr.1 Irish Derby and Gr.1 Ascot Gold Cup before going on to a successful NH stallion career, and the Gr.1 1,000 Guineas heroine LEGATISSIMO. It is also worth noting that RAVEN’S PASS is the acclaimed broodmare sire of such luminaries as MISHRIFF, SAFFRON BEACH, RAMATUELLE, TIBER FLOW and KESSAAR, to name just a few.

This classy female line is complemented by the ever-reliable Rathbarry Stud titan ACCLAMATION, who died in December at the top of his game aged 25.

It has been another stellar season for the veteran sire, highlighted by a trio of Gr.1 wins for his exceptional Hong Kong-based son ROMANTIC WARRIOR, while he added a seventh individual Gr.1 winner to his career tally when MAKAROVA won the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp.

ACCLAMATION has already matched successfully with RAVEN’S PASS mares, the nick responsible for a trio of winners headed by the Gowran maiden scorer and Hong Kong export JOLT (later known as RICH HORSE), while Winter Snow’s previous offspring by the sire was a 115,000gns purchase as a foal.
