James' early career saw plenty of success with Arabian racing alongside his Point to Point career, both in the saddle and as a trainer. He has dominating the UK Arabian racing scene since, including gaining the coveted Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) Trainers' Title six times and also winning the Arabian Racing Achievement Award at the HWPA Derby Awards on three separate occasions.

Supported by the late HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, James saddled plenty of winners in the famous Shadwell silks and continues to train Arabians alongside his Flat and National Hunt strings today, showing his versatility at handling a variety of horses, temperaments and distances.

In 2025 the Arabian season is set to return with a bang as record prizemoney is up for grabs. The highlights include the Qatar International Stakes, run at the Qatar Goodwood Festival and worth £400,000, the UAE President Cup, also worth £400,000 and held at the prestigious St Leger Festival, and several further races valued at £10,000 or more.

Further details about the sport, along with ownership options and how to source Arabians, can be found through the ARO website.
